Brent Hayes Barfield and family, early years

Brent Hayes Barfield, born on May 12, 1970, in Lexington, Kentucky, is the youngest child of Kelly and Vinita Barfield. His grandmother, Celesta Hayes, nurtured his early skills in reading, writing, and painting sparking his lifelong passion for art.

In 1975, the family moved to Pasadena, California, where Brent attended public school and began exploring life's diversities. By 1976, they relocated to Beaver, Oklahoma, where he cherished time with his grandmother at her ranch. Her passing left Brent reflecting deeply during long nights in Beaver.

The family settled in Logansport, Louisiana, in 1986 to support his father's parents. Brent wrote his first poem, The Road, the following year. In 1988, he moved to Big Sandy, Texas, befriending Derek Gentry. Together, they turned Brent's poems and Derek's music into what became "Heads Like This".

Later in 1988, Brent moved to Dallas with his fiancée, Donna Seachord, working at The Dallas Museum of Art. A pivotal moment occurred when Donna's comment on a Jackson Pollock piece deepened his understanding of art's significance.

Brent explored various artistic fields, including music, painting, furniture design, and hair styling. In 2010, he returned to painting, inspired by art discussions with Mark Shipp, a friend and art professor, who mentored him in artistic techniques.

In 2014, at The Gallery Mainstreet in downtown Tyler, Texas he first showed three paintings in the Art Competition "Movement of the Mind".

Brent's journey showcases his diverse artistic talents and unwavering commitment to art, marked by creativity, resilience, and passion.
